About Me!
I’d like to make the world a better place one funny drawing at a time!
Hello, I’m Vern Mercado. I draw cartoons for minihahas.com (formerly vernscartoons.com). Welcome and thanks for stopping by.
I’ve always loved to draw. I consider these cartoon characters not just illusions of ink on paper but my living & breathing buddies. We go through life’s journey together. My mom constantly reminds me of when I was a young and asked to sleep, she caught me under my covers with a flashlight and a sketch pad in order to keep drawing. I would stay occupied for hours. The magic of drawing has always fascinated me because with the slight of hand … BLAM! I could move mountains. My imagination had no bounds.
When I was a kid, my father was in the U.S. Navy so we traveled a lot. We finally settled down in Jacksonville, Florida where he later retired. I studied architecture in college and later moved to San Francisco, California. It is there that I found the arts mecca – architecture, theater, visual arts, and classical music. It’s fun to see grown-ups <like me> never giving up on their dream and producing art in any form. I hope my cartoons put a smile on your face and possibly make your day a little bit better.
I’ve always loved putting together art and technology. Whether it’s designing buildings in Autocad or putting websites together in WordPress. My cartoons are no different. I embrace the convergence of art and technology. I currently draw my cartoons on a Wacom Cintiq through Clip Studio Paint Pro (formally Manga Studio EX) software.
I live in Concord, California with my wife Lucille and dog Rhapsody. Thanks again for visiting and please come again soon for more laughs.
